A Season of Fruitfulness
Hey guys! Happy August! This month we’ll be looking at a variety of seasons that ones encounters on their Christian walk. Today’s topic is; A Season of Fruitfulness!
Now when you hear the word ‘fruitful’ or ‘fruitfulness’ what do you think of?
- When God instructs Noah and his family to be fruitful and multiply after the flood? (Genesis 9:7)
- Or the fruit of the spirit? Listed out in Galatians 5:22-23
- Or do you think of John 15:1-17 when Jesus explains how He is the vine and God is the gardener and we are the branches?
Well if you think of any of these, they’re all along the right lines. The Bible talks a lot about spiritual fruitfulness is many ways. God commands that we be fruitful, and the Bible promotes a fruitful lifestyle.
The word fruitful means productive, producing good or helpful results; producing many offspring.
In our everyday lives we can spot spiritually fruitful people, you know when you meet someone or hear of someone and they’re always bearing fruit, things always move quickly for them. They always have a job or they always have something productive going on. That is a physical example of spiritual fruitfulness.
Now lets look at John 15 1-17 because Jesus explains spiritual fruitfulness and how to be spiritually fruitful too. (Which I’m sure we all want to be!)

Firstly, he explicitly tells us that he is the vine, he is the bearer of the fruits.
John 15:1 - I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.
This also shows that there are many false vines too, he is the only true one, there’s no other way to be fruitful than through him even if the world may tell us “come this way, to be successful, come this way to be productive” it will not work unless it’s through Jesus.
He even tells us in John 15:4 ; no branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
John 15:5; I am the vine; you are the branches, if a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. How powerful!
If you want your season of fruitfulness you know what you need to do! Remain in Jesus. You see the thing is Jesus perfectly tells us in John 15:6 ; if anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away into the withers: such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.
Very visual detail here. The key here is to remain in him. Ask yourself this; Am I bearing spiritual fruits? Am I in a season of Fruitfulness? If not, ask yourself ; is my relationship with God a casual visitation or am I abiding and remaining in Him?
We all know that life gets busy but if you want a fruitful life, where you are moving with God and progressing, then you need to start by abiding with the Lord and remaining in him every day.
It’s like charging your phone, you charge it daily, you leave it on charge for however long it takes and go on to use it. The same way we must recharge our spirit and feed our spirits the nutrients that we can only find from Jesus and spending time studying his word to produce fruit and be fruitful.
I pray that you enter a season of Fruitfulness and remain in that season as you remain and abide in Christ Jesus and that you bear many many fruits in all areas of your lives. In Jesus name, Amen.
Have a blessed week.
