Kindness

Hey guys! Hope you’re all well?

Welcome back to another blog post. I saw a tweet the other day about being kind.

The tweet was pretty much debating whether being kind is worth it when you know the person you’re helping would not do the same for you?

This tweet stayed on my mind and I thought about how many people live by this.

So today we’re going to discuss being kind and why being kind is something that should be praised.

You see, when you help someone you’re not just doing it to get something back. If we kept tabs on every single time we helped someone and expected something in return, life would be so tiring.

Helping someone in need and showing kindness is something you do out of wanting to. We previously spoke about fruits of the spirit, if we truly carry the fruits then we most certainly will show kindness without even thinking or debating “would they do the same for me”.

When Jesus was on the cross he didn’t say “none of these people would do the same for me”, instead He asked God to forgive everyone. He simply said “forgive them oh Lord for they know not what they do”.

“Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.” - Luke 23:34 NLT

I think this is the most loving and kindest thing. To be so selfless and to love without expecting anything back, this is how we should ALL strive to be like.

We should display so much kindness, that we don’t have any unkind thoughts. The Bible instructs us to;

“Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you.” - Luke 6:28

The culture of revenge and karma is so uplifted in today’s generation that we often forget that we are called , as children of God, to bless those that curse us. Not get them back or curse them 7 times worse. No! We even need to pray for those that hurt us. Not find them and fight. We need to remember that we are not fighting flesh and blood, there is more to life than the physical. Pray for people, pray for healing, don’t wish bad upon others. Remember what Jesus did. He prayed that we be forgiven.

Let us practice kindness today, and see what God will do for you.

Stay blessed.

Marlyse
