Personal Reflection On My Journey – Finding Meaning

Everyone at some point in their walk-through life has felt disappointment, hurt or somewhat alone. These are all common human emotions that we experience throughout life, even Solomon (who was considered the wisest man in the Bible) backslid from God and felt alone. He began to question life, which I know I have personally. We can read about this in Ecclesiastes, where Solomon basically expresses how life is meaningless without God. Trying to fill voids or find meaning without God is worthless.

When I studied this book, I found that even though it was written centuries ago, everything he says in the book resonated with me heavily. This is one example of how the Bible, Gods word, is still very much alive! Amen.

With ‘The Journey’ being our theme throughout June, I spent a lot of time thinking about my own life journey and how I have reached this point in my life. When looking at our journeys we look at key moments in our lives. This can include various events; moving houses, relationships, encounters with people, life changing events such as loses or new births. There are literally so many. But when we look back on everything we’ve been through so far and we look at the book of Ecclesiastes, I believe we can really understand Solomon.

I know that when I look at my journey, I see God through everything, I see where God moved, where He protected me, where He intervened and how His plan all came together even when I didn’t understand why at the time. This is why it is so important to remain faithful and depend on Him because he knows tomorrow. The bible tells us to not worry about tomorrow (Matthew 6:34). So, every day is its own journey. We all have 24 hours every day, 24 hours where everything can change dramatically but through every hour and every minute, we need to remain faithful, leaning not in our own understanding but in God (Proverbs 3:5). Because God always remains faithful. Without him, everything is meaningless.

The same way Solomon came to that conclusion, I did too when I look back on my life. If God had not been there when I needed him, whether I knew I did at the time or not, I can’t even tell you where I could’ve ended up.

So, for this and many more reasons, we owe it to God to remain faithful and courageous in His promise to us. He will never fail. Live for him, let everything you do be to give Him glory and you will find joy and true meaning in life.

Stay blessed,

Marlyse.
